About Us

The Iraqi Society of Anesthesia, Intensive Care, and Pain Medicine (IQSAN), founded in 1971, is one of the most established medical scientific societies in Iraq. We are dedicated to advancing the fields of anesthesia, critical care, and pain medicine through education, training, research, and international collaboration.

As Iraq’s representative in global scientific organizations, our society plays a vital role in promoting professional excellence, developing national guidelines, and strengthening patient safety and healthcare quality.

Short Biography

Consultant Dr. Alaa Hussein Ali Al-Taie
President, Iraqi Society of Anesthesia, Intensive Care, and Pain Medicine

Dr. Alaa Al-Taie, born in Baghdad (1965), is a Consultant Anesthesiologist and Intensivist at the Medical City – Kidney Transplant Center. He earned his MBChB from Al-Mustansiriya University (1990) and the FICMS in Anesthesia (2000).

He has held several key leadership positions, including Chairman of the Arab Board Scientific Council for Anesthesia & ICU (2014–2018) and Director of the Anesthesia Department at the Renal Transplant Center (since 2004). In 2012, he led the national Project for Anesthesia Development in Iraq.
